SubClass Of: bfo:quality
Class Hierarchy

Definition
quality that is the extent to which a particular capability of the bearer can be realized
Explanatory Notes
A capacity and the capability on which it specifically depends inhere in the same bearer. The capacity requires the capability to exist, but not to be realized. Its magnitude may depend on operating conditions, material properties, and equipment configuration, and may be expressed as an amount, rate, range, or performance curve. A capability may have multiple capacities corresponding to different quantitative dimensions.
Examples
- the flow-rate capacity of a centrifugal pump to deliver 100 L/min under specified operating conditions; the throughput capacity of a depth filter to process 400 L/mΒ² before reaching a specified differential-pressure limit; the production capacity of a water purification skid to produce 1000 L/day of purified water; the buffering capacity of a phosphate buffer solution to resist changes in pH upon addition of acid or base
Primitive Class
This class is declared primitive and it does not have necessary and sufficient condiftions defined.
Primitive Rationale
There are insufficient constructs to create necessary and sufficient conditions.
