Class Hierarchy

owl:Thing β€Ί bfo:entity β€Ί bfo:continuant β€Ί bfo:specifically dependent continuant β€Ί bfo:quality β€Ί age

Definition

quality of a material entity determined by the elapsed time since a specified reference event associated with that material entity

Explanatory Notes

Age is the quality itself, while an age value, such as β€œ14 days” or β€œ6 months,” is an information content entity or value expression that describes that quality. The starting point for determining age depends on the kind of bearer and the relevant domain convention, for example manufacture date, thaw date, birth, creation, preparation, or assembly.

Examples

  • Age of a raw material lot assessed relative to its manufacture date; Age of a prepared buffer assessed relative to its preparation time; Age of a cell culture assessed relative to thaw or inoculation according to the applicable convention; Age of a drug substance batch assessed relative to production or fill date; Age of a single-use assembly assessed relative to manufacture or sterilization date
