capability of a material entity to move by flow

Explanatory Notes

Flowability is assessed relative to a handling context and conditions (e.g., gravity discharge, pouring, conveying, pumping, geometry such as hoppers/orifices, temperature and humidity, consolidation history). In bioprocessing and pharmaceutical settings, the term is most commonly applied to powders and granular solids and evaluated using operational tests such as angle of repose, flow through an orifice, and indices derived from bulk and tapped density.
