capability of a fluid to pass through a filtration medium without undue blockage or loss of permeability
Explanatory Notes
1) Filterability is realized in filtration and concerns the tendency of a fluid-solid material to continue passing through a filtration medium rather than rapidly forming deposits that reduce permeability or cause plugging. 2) The bearer can be a fluid material entity containing suspended solids, with slurries and suspensions being common examples. Filterability can vary with the amount and character of suspended solids, properties of the continuous phase, and the filtration medium used. 3) Practical indications of poor filterability include early blockage, marked decline in throughput, rapid pressure increase, or rapid increase in filtration resistance during filtration.
