chemical moiety that is the remaining portion of a glycan resulting from its covalent attachment to the side-chain hydroxyl oxygen of a serine, threonine, hydroxylysine, or hydroxyproline residue

Examples

  • O-glycan moiety attached to a serine residue in a glycoprotein; O-glycan moiety attached to a threonine residue in a mucin-like domain; O-linked glycan moiety attached to hydroxylysine in a collagen-like protein
