Explanatory Notes
1) Retention is achieved either by deposition of suspended particles on the filter surface or by capture of particles in the porous medium 2) This definition uses “retain” to indicate the physical exclusion or capture of particles above a defined size. In the case of filters, this retention is achieved through structural exclusion or entrapment and is not reversible under normal operating conditions.
