Explanatory Notes
The reference quantity used for normalization may be, for example, membrane area, working volume, or cell amount. The resulting normalized flow rate may therefore have different units depending on the reference quantity. Normalization in this sense does not refer to conversion of a gas flow rate to standard or normal temperature and pressure conditions.
