Explanatory Notes
This class includes amino acid residues, most commonly asparagine, that have a covalently attached carbohydrate group through an N-glycosidic linkage. In biopharmaceutical proteins, N-glycosylation is typically generated by enzymatic glycosylation pathways involving the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus and yields N-linked glycans with characteristic core structures.
